Find your next train and buy tickets in a flash

TheTrainline.com is a well known resource online for getting around on Britain’s railway system for cheaper, and it’s also got a well-stocked suite of mobile apps.
Opening the app is a simple affair, where you’re instantly asked the stations you want to go for – with the option to use GPS to locate the nearest one too, which is a nice touch.
The list of trains is quickly displayed with journey times, and if you’ve got an account you can swiftly look for fares and buy tickets too.
The speed of the app can vary depending on the phone you’re using, but we generally found it to be really speedy and give us the information when we needed it.
However, the UI is the only thing that really lets the app down, as it’s very basic and lacks the sheen of its Android and iOS counterparts, which are really impressive. This doesn’t impact on overall functionality though, so isn’t that much of an issue.
If you’re a regular train user, this is a great app – we’re just hoping for a slicker update to bring it in line with its OS peers.
