Sense the Color
Turn your pictures into veritable works of art
Sense the Color Review

You remember that poignant bit of the girl in the red coat in the black and white film? You know… the one from the Vauxhall advert?
Well, this application helps you perform the same trick with photographs instead, taking a simple snap, making it black and white and then letting you decide which bits are in colour.
We were initially very sceptical when we first saw this application, thinking that the smartphone screen is no place to be trying to get the precise brush strokes needed for exact colour tone.
But then you find you can use tiny brushes and zoom in really close to the object – and suddenly you’ve got an application that you’ll be using far more than you expected to.
There are only four functions – moving the screen (or zooming), painting, erasing and changing the brush size. You’ll quickly get into a rhythm of using the four – although it’s really, really annoying there’s no undo function on offer, as that’s clearly needed.
But from there you can save the picture to show others how insanely clever you are (Look, the Frog is totally green but it’s eyes aren’t!) and you can’t help but think it looks cool.
A simple application, but definitely one to add into the collection, especially if more tools are added in the future.
