What do you get if you cross a media player and the radio?
While only (currently) available for the Nokia Lumia range, this app is another game-changer from the Finns.
While it works as an alternative to the inbuilt Zune player, Nokia Music brings a few other choices to the mix as well. The main two are Mix Radio and Gig Finder, offering up new content to the phone.
The former is a collection of songs selected by Nokia in different genres – drilling down offers a large selection of tunes. You can skip through the tunes, but only a certain amount of times to stop it becoming a Spotify rival.
You can also download the playlists for offline listening, which is a real winner if you get into the personalisation of the service.
Gig Finder is a fun service, and allows you to see what’s playing near you that day – although it doesn’t offer a map service to show the venues and doesn’t always list in order of distance.
An app with a lot of promise, but essentially we only ever used it to listen to a selection of Mix Radio songs once in a while.
