You may or may not hate Facebook, but does that mean the Facebook app itself is a good or bad thing? The same can be said about this app.
FourSquare is a location-based networking site that’s as much a game as it is about linking people. It enables people to add and ‘check-in’ at shops, hotels and restaurants leaving comments, recommendations and winning badges.
While it does have a full website front-end it’s designed to be updated by GPS-enabled phones, so it can verify if you’re at the location you say you. As such it’s going to live or die by how good its mobile apps are.
No matter what you think of the service we found at best the Windows Mobile version to be horribly mediocre. It really only offers the base level of functionality to participate in the ‘game’. It’s poorly presented, a touch slow to use and lacks real control over your location. This is only version one so there’s plenty of room for improvement, we hope.
