EA updates Tetris with some new games
Tetris Refresh Review
by on October 22, 2010
Tetris is one of the most popular games of all time and the plethora of official EA apps that have appeared on various mobile phone platforms have only broadened the appeal.
This is a rather space-age looking reworking of the popular puzzle game. There’s still the classic Marathon mode, as well as two quick-fire versions of the game. The first is Ultra, which challenges you to see how many blocks you can clear inside two minutes.
The second is Forty Lines. And yep, you’ve guessed it, the challenge there is to clear 40 lines as quickly as possible. The idea of these two new modes is to provide a quicker challenge to fit the way people play games on phone handsets.
The main problem with this game is the price. If you’re a serious Tetris addict then you might not think it a problem, but Tetris is cheaper on other platforms, notably the iPhone. And that’s a shame – we guess EA wants to cover the expense of porting it to Bada, but this is just too much and that means while the gameplay is fantastic as usual, we can’t be too enthusiastic about this version of the classic game.
