Vlingo – Voice App
Control your Nokia with your voice
Vlingo – Voice App Review
by on March 18, 2011
Vlingo is an app that enables you to control your Nokia handset with your voice. The idea is that you can speak to your handset or even update your Facebook status using it.
There is a small overhead in terms of your data plan – Vlingo says it will use about 1MB of date for every 150 voice commands. This doesn’t seem like a lot to us but if you pay per MB, you may want to reconsider your plan before you use it. Initially you give the app a bit of training, but generally the app does work well and we were surprised.
You can even dictate and send text messages or emails, though that requires the premium Vingo Plus service which costs £5.99. Of course, that’s the useful bit. After all, you’re not that likely to voice control a quick command, but you’re more likely to dictate an email. So as a result the app is half-useful – it’s good at what it does, but you’ll only get real benefit from it by paying the extra sub.
