The free paper goes mobile
by on March 28, 2011
The Metro might not be everybody’s morning cup of tea in newspaper form, but perhaps people expect too much for free. In case you haven’t heard of it, Metro is a free newspaper distributed to commuters in most cities in the UK.
The Nokia Metro app is more of the same with up-to-the-minute but fairly superfiical showbiz, news, sport and tech news. That’s the same order as it’s listed on the app’s blurb and so you can tell where the Metro’s editorial priorities lie. Unlike the newspaper though, the app is updated throughout the day. The real boon of the app is the great pictures alongside the stories – as good as in the newspaper.
How useful you’ll find this app depends on what you think of the paper itself – it you usually put it straight in the bin when you’re given it, don’t bother downloading this. But for those who really like the Metro – or if you live in a part of the UK where it’s not available on the street – it’s great for checking out snack-worthy news.
