Ebook app with free access to thousands of titles
Wattpad is an ebook application that enables you to get free access to 100,000 older books. However, these aren’t duff titles – you can get access to popular classics such as Pride and Predudice. What’s more, you can even upload your own writing at wattpad.com for others to read.
However, as a user-friendly reading experience, Wattpad certainly isn’t the best. It’s difficult to navigate around different parts of the book – unlike iBooks on the iPhone there’s no sense of where you are within a book, for example. It’s certainly a bit of a tiresome experience even if you try and scroll – everything is on one, long, bland page. It’s also difficult to navigate round the app, for example – it’s even difficult to get back to the main menu from the reading page.
For reading short texts we can certainly see Wattpad on the Nokia being of use. But for longer texts we have to be rather blunt – we just wouldn’t want to read them on this app – it’s just not a good user experience.
