Listen to Last.fm radio stations
by on March 10, 2011
Mobbler is a Nokia app that enables you to listen to a wide variety of bespoke radio stations using the power of Last.fm. The bad news is that you will need a paid-for Last.fm account to do this on your phone. You didn’t used to need one, but Last.fm has now decided that all people accessing its services via mobile phone or devices like the Logitech Squeezebox need a paid-for account – costing £3 a month (strangely there appears to be no discount for a longer sub, so you’ll still pay £36 a year).
Unfortunately there are also no discounts or free trials available in the UK either, so you will have to be a Last.fm convert to make use of this app. If you are, you’ll be pleased to hear that the app is actually quite brilliant. It enables you to start whatever type of station you need (and, like Last.fm itself, enables you to start one by specifying an artist to start from).
You can resume the last played station, change the equaliser and check your scrobble log – or list of last tracks listened to stored by Last.fm. There’s a lot here, it’s just a shame you have to pay to be part of it.
