An ideal app for the terminally lazy on holidays who want to send postcards, but don’t want to move from the sunbed.
by on September 3, 2010
If you are going on holidays, then the new Postcards app for iPhone is a must. It takes all the hassle out of buying and writing (and finding funny-looking foreign stamps for) old-fashioned postcards and, instead, makes it fun again.
It is also free, until you decide which of your bespoke-designed cards you wish to send. At which point it will cost you 99p for 2nd class for 99p or £1.49 to send it 1st class. All cards sent to international recipients will cost you £1.49.
The concept could not be simpler. Merely shoot the pictures you want to turn into a postcard, then let the app do the rest. The company behind Postcards will print it and post it for you, saving you precious time to while away on the beach or sipping strangely-coloured cocktails by the pool.
And if you are particularly lazy, which, let’s face it, most of us are when on holiday, you needn’t even leave the comfort of your sun-lounger. You can snap a picture of loved ones frolicking in the sea, quickly write a personalised message to your mum (or whoever) and, providing you send it to the developer before 4pm UK time, they will have a customised printed postcard on their doormat the following day.
