Commuter

A first-class app, and one that’s nicely flexible. The lack of ticket purchasing means it can’t be the only app you use, though.

Commuter combines National Rail service, the Tube, Docklands Light Railway and London Overground into one journey-planning app. You can also choose to pay for live travel update information, so at any time you can see when the next train’s leaving your station.
There’s even a live countdown to when the next train goes, which is undoubtedly useful, but certainly adds to the stress of rushing! It also includes information about which Tube lines are having problems, and points you to the right platform on National Rail services.
The app’s design is fairly nice, and it’s great to have the option to pay for the live information for only a month, instead of shelling out lots up front, or every single month. However, it would be good if you could buy train tickets from the app.
