One of the slickest ways to find out the latest football scores and watch highlights as the goals fly in
Live Score Addicts Review

Football supporters, we’ve have all been there: A late night in the office, stuck out shopping on a Saturday afternoon, train cancellations delaying your sofa time in front of the telly. If you are fortunate enough to have Sky Go on your iPhone, then you’re covered, but if you can’t afford the subscription and prefer your football on a more global scale, Live Score Addicts serves up a live results and push notification service that lets you know as soon as a goal goes in with video highlights to see all the goalmouth action.
Live Score Addicts is the follow up to the more Premier League-centric EPL Addicts iPhone app swapping transfer rumours and team news for a results service that spans 300 leagues from across the world. There are already a host of paid-for and free football apps that provide a similar service, but Live Score Addicts is one of the slickest we’ve seen in terms of looks and delivery.
Its chrome-style interface features just three tabs which breaks the app down into matches from yesterday, today and tomorrow. At the bottom of the app you’ll find tabs for Matches, Competitions, Notifications and More where you can prioritize which competitions you want to be notified about simply by dragging them into order. You can also set the update frequency ranging from a battery-friendly slow to a more addictive-friendly fast.
When you first launch the app you’ll be required to go through a set-up to initially select your filters for the type of information and competitions you want to be notified about. So if you want information on line-ups, goals or when video highlights are available, simply check the box and you are done. The push notification service worked well for us, and if you want to opt out of the alerts it is easy enough to find out match information if you’ve set up your filters appropriately.
As mentioned, there’s 300 leagues covered, ranging from the Premier League to the Spanish Primera Division all the way to leagues in Vietnam and Qatar. Even friendly club matches are catered for making it by far the most comprehensive we’ve seen in an app of this kind.
Video highlights are by far the stand out feature of this app, letting you see goals and footage from matches during and after the game has finished. Video content is not hosted on the app itself but is provided via third party video sharing websites like Daily Motion and Veoh. This does mean you will have to contend with foreign commentary, but when you get to see the action so swiftly there’s unlikely to be many complaints. Some of the more remote leagues understandably struggle for video content, but if you are following leagues around Europe and South America, you are well catered for.
Using the app is dependent on 3G or Wi-Fi being available, so disappointingly you are not able to check some stats and video highlights from the previous day because nothing is stored locally. Live Score Addicts does currently lack league tables while we would love to see tactical formations included, but it appears that developers are looking to add that functionality in the future.
Free apps like Sky Sports Soccer Centre and ESPN Goals do a decent job of covering football results closer to home while a paid-for app like Live Scores expands on this with top European league coverage, but Live Score Addicts takes things even further and does it such an elegant and user-friendly way. It covers more leagues than most other apps are capable of while the video highlights feature on its own is reason enough to download an app that can only get better. So, whether you simply love the English game or yearn to know the moment a goal is scored in the Allsvenskan in Sweden, football fans should have this app in their lives.
