Incorporating a bar-code scanner and exclusive in-store discounts, Debenhams is leading the way in high-street shopping apps on iPhone

If you are the type of inveterate fashion shopper that likes nothing more than hanging out in well-heeled department stores on weekends or whenever else you have a bit of free time to kill, then you will most likely love the new Debenhams shopping app for iPhone.
Debenhams’ developers have clearly been paying attention to trends in shopping and iPhone apps over the last year or two, packing in a range of features that makes it easy and pleasurable to browse and shop on your mobile, or to also use your iPhone to plan your shopping before you hit your local store.
Perhaps the most impressive feature that the app incorporates is the barcode scanner, which allows you to use your phone’s camera to snap barcodes on products that you like the look of – then allowing you to check pricing and online reviews before you go ahead and make your buying decisions.
All in, it’s a great shopping app, whether you regularly visit your local Debenhams or live way out in the sticks hundreds of miles away from a store. Simon Forster, Online Trading Director for Debenhams, says the app helps to bridge the gap “between the high street shopping trip and accessing Debenhams.com from home,” which sums up what the devs have achieved rather well.
