The perfect iPhone app for those who like to micromanage their personal expenses.

Natwest has been the first amongst the established British high street banks to develop an iPhone app for its customers. And while limited in scope, it is the ideal app for those of us who like to ‘micromanage’ our personal expenditure.
If you are a Natwest customer then you may have already downloaded the app and experienced the rather lengthy sign-up process to ensure in triplicate that you are who you are claiming to be. Following that, users choose a passcode for logging in and then have to wait up to 48 hours until the bank confirms their identity and verifies their pass.
Early users of the app were quick to complain about this slow process, but Natwest should be applauded for ensuring the app is 100 per cent secure. The app lets you check your balance, see a mini-statement or set for a text to be sent to you with your balance.
What you cannot do with this app is spend money or transfer it to other accounts. Yet despite these limited options to manage your money, it is a decent first effort from a high street bank to give its customers access to check their accounts on the go.
