Some frustratingly difficult later levels, but otherwise this enjoyable dam-building puzzle is top of the class.

This is why you should never pull any more than your weight when it comes to group projects. Edgar, the titular eager beaver, is the only builder in his village who can be bothered to construct dams these days. While he did sort of bring it on himself, you can’t help but feel sorry for the poor sod – particularly when there’s a flood on its way.
Blocks of varying shapes and sizes are picked up by a crane, which you can position before dropping them. The blocks are rotating, too, so you have to pick your moment carefully to keep things stacking up as you want them to.
You have to take the speed of the tide into consideration when introducing items to the water, and dodge/stun/heartlessly massacre the bothersome fish that are out to sabotage your structure by swimming into it. The proverbial spanner also gets thrown in the works later by oddly shaped objects, including propellor blades and traffic signs, which you have to integrate into your design.
Levels include obstacles such as see-sawing rocks, plugholes and explosive mines, so the challenge is kept constantly fresh. Uneven riverbeds also mean that you often have to be incredibly precise in your approach – a split-second can mean the difference between a triangle slotting neatly into a gap or presenting you with an impossible point to try to build on atop.
Later levels do get a little bit irritating in their difficulty (we expended plenty of curses on our fishy nemeses, in particular), but if one is causing you too much trouble, you can thankfully skip it. Being awarded marks out of three for your efforts upon passing each level is sure to keep perfectionists coming back for more, too.
