Burn the Rope
A fine action-oriented puzzle game that pleasingly tries to do something different.

Burn the Rope is primarily a game of dexterity, with the odd logic puzzle thrown into the mix. The aim is to burn through over 100 increasingly intricate rope designs, utilising the game’s core concept: fire only burns upwards. Therefore, Burn the Rope becomes a test of how you control your flames, twisting your device to ensure maximum incineration. As the game progresses, a number of insects enter the mix and add complexity – some change a flame’s colour, enabling you to torch coloured rope, while others create bridges for, teleport, or even douse the flame.
These arcade-oriented components add variety and depth, but also randomness, making Burn the Rope something of a halfway house between the serene Zen Bound games and action-puzzlers more reliant on your reactions.
