Instagram is, in theory at least, a social networking application. The idea is that you’re supposed to follow your friends and share your pictures with them, and in this sense it works perfectly. The service features a very Tumblr-esque ‘like’ system and direct interaction with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
But you can ignore the social aspect. Instagram’s finest asset is the wide selection of photo filters, which give you the chance to tart up your photos with a classic tint – a rare feature to find in a free app. We’re big fans of the Poprocket filter.
