Perhaps the creepiest and most addictive thing to come out of Japan since Pokemon.
Hour Face Review
by on March 17, 2010
Japan’s creepiest iPhone app lets you see what you and your friends will look like as old-timers. HourFace is the best instant aging app for the iPhone out there (yes, there are others!) and for £1.79 it is also a fantastic and very unsettling party trick.
The app takes a photo of what you look like now, then slowly ages you to show you what you might look like in fifty years’ time. It is a harmless bit of fun that has been giving us some very bizarre nightmares for the last month now!
HourFace has helped developer MotionPortrait become one of Tokyo’s hottest iPhone dev studios since the app topped the charts in Japan. MotionPortrait uses its own cutting-edge avatar-builder technology to analyse a still photo and turn it into a living, breathing 3D movie that ages right there on the iPhone screen in front of your very eyes.
Fire up HourFace, take a photo of a friend (or use one from your photo library) and then wait for the magic to kick in while MotionPortrait’s dedicated servers get to work. Turn the phone upside down and your victim gets younger, too! You can also share photo snapshots of what everybody will look like in 2060 by simply hitting the share button on the app.
