If you want to produce cool, retro-looking Polaroid style pics with your iPhone, Hipstamatic is the app to do it
by on July 18, 2010
Digital photography is all well and good, but there really is something cool and almost timeless about a picture that looks like it was shot with an old Polaroid snapper back in 1974.
It has quickly become one of our favourite photography apps for the iPhone, and we have successfully tricked out parents into thinking that we have found old pictures of the family home from back in the 1970s, when they were actually pictures taken in 2010 on our phones.
Hipstamatic also lets you play around with your virtual old camera, swapping lenses, film, and flash settings by just swiping a finger across your iPhones touchscreen.
For the true camera nerds out there, Hipstamatic includes the John S, Jimmy, and Kaimal Lenses, as well as Blanko, Ina’s 1969, and Kodot Verichrome film and two standard flashes complete with humming sound.
These blurry and over-saturated images that the app helps you to create will soon have you looking at the spaces around you in a totally different way. Why not go the whole hog, while you are playing around with Hipstamatic? Put some Bowie on the hi-fi and pour yourself a nice light ale and pretend that you are living in ‘Life on Mars’!
