The quickest and easiest way to search and access Google Apps on the iPhone
Google’s iPhone app confused us a bit in its earlier incarnations, mainly because it didn’t seem to do anything other than redirect you to the relevant area of Google on the iPhone’s Safari web browser. So for many it seemed a bit pointless.
Even while it had its naysayers though, we always felt that it was still a great app to have on your iPhone’s homepage, particularly if you use lots of Google’s Apps such as those handy shared calendars or documents which can be updated collaboratively with your family, mates or colleagues in the office.
A few updates down the line and Google has added in the very cool Voice Search feature, so you can speak into your phone to search the internet, instead of all that bother messing around with old-fashioned typing. You can also amaze your friends and play the fun party game called “look at what my iPhone thinks I’m saying when I’m really not.” (A game that is brilliant fun for, literally, minutes).
Searching via Google’s app also presents you with smart results that include your search history, websites, your contact list and Google Maps. Finally, you can customise the look of the app via the ‘Bells and Whistles’ menu, so you can change the colour or have the app’s default sound replaced by monkey or chicken noises. Which is fun. For around nine seconds.
