4A focused feature-set, and incredible price make for a great code editor despite the lack of SFTP

When it comes to the iPad, there’s no shortage of text editors. Text apps that sync to Dropbox are seemingly a dime-a-dozen. However, there are fewer options out there if you’re looking to edit code and not prose.
Koder is a recent entry on the block, and offers code highlighting for HTML and CSS, as well as many more (though, it’s a shame to see Objective-C missing, since it’s the language iPad apps are written in). The syntax highlighting also offers light and dark options to suit your taste.
To get your files onto the device, there’s support for Dropbox, FTP and MobileMe, as well as creating files from scratch on your iPad. While we loved the code-friendly customised keyboard and the fact that changes are stored on the iPad until you’re ready to tap Publish, the UI didn’t clearly indicate pages that have changed, and the app disables all UI elements while loading or changing files. There’s also no Secure FTP support yet, but despite the shortcomings, Koder offers a focused set of tools without overwhelming you.

iPhone
Ragdoll Blaster 3
The iOS equivalent of a plain cheese sandwich: does the job, but it won't linger in the memory afterwards.
iPhone
Puckerz
One for those with a careless bent, and perfect for when you want to play a game but not do any thinking.
iPad
Pulse: Volume One
Stylish, absorbing and challenging, but needs Game Center support and an injection of longevity and jolly.
iPad
Procreate
Some hugely impressive tools and an interface ideal for artists make this a great painting app.
iPhone
Print n share
Difficult to set up, but once you’ve got it working, it offers a great range of print options.
iPad
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within HD
Control issues aside, Warrior Within really is a magnificent sequel.
Android
Vivi In Stile - Peroni
Full of style and a surprising amount of substance

pxl.
The interface feels a bit out of place on iOS, but it’s a fun app, and produces interesting results.
Puzzlejuice
Absurdly challenging, sometimes brutal, but frequently brilliant (especially on the iPad); just be aware of what you’re letting yourself in for. (Sob.)
