A window into some gorgeous photography; a source of inspiration for photographers and of delight for everyone.

500px.com is the current darling of professional or serious amateur photographers who want to showcase their best work online. Its clean design and talented community have meant that many have abandoned Flickr for it, and when you browse their work with this iPad app, you’re grateful they have.
The 500px app is just for viewing, commenting on and sharing photos – you can’t upload to your 500px account, even though one is required to access the app. But that’s no bad thing, as the standard of photography is superb. Use it to get inspiration for your own photography, or just as a configurable photo frame as your iPad charges; photos look especially stunning on the new iPad.
You can’t save photos from the app to use as, say, desktop wallpapers, which is understandable in intellectual property terms though disappointing – and a bit silly when you can tap to view the photo in Safari and download from there.
Browsing is simple and logical, and the experience is generally very polished; sharing photos by Twitter, however, always failed in our testing.
