Having dominated physical board games and the iPhone, Scrabble now tackles the iPad
Scrabble Review
by on January 25, 2011
Having proven a massive hit and commuters dream on the iPhone, the classic board game is back on the larger screened iPad with a selection of new features and the same blissfully simplistic and entertaining gameplay options.
Whether facing up against the CPU on the variable difficulty single player modes, playing in a group via pass-and-play or over a wireless network, Scrabble for the iPad is a perfect example of how both single and multiplayer gaming should be done on the Apple tablet.
The game’s drag-and-drop touchscreen controls are intuitive with handy recall and shuffle buttons adding a well thought-out gameplay easing touch. Whilst Best Word options offer a game-saving, tricky-word-finding treat, the inclusive dictionary is once again well implemented and a joy to use.
For multiple iDevice owners EA has enhanced the modernised interactive Scabble gameplay to incorporate cross compatible gaming. Available as a free additional download, group iPad Scrabble gaming can be enhanced via the iPhone-bound Tile Rack app which allows users to remotely store their gameplay tiles and via Bluetooth hook-up flick them onto the board.
