5The Angry Birds are back, meaner and on a bigger screen
Angry Birds Review
by on December 7, 2010
The phenomenally successful Angry Birds puzzle game has made the jump to the iPad with added HD glory and the same level of addictiveness and sheer enjoyment that has made this game one of the most popular apps to date.
As if you didn’t already know, Angry Birds involves firing a range of seemingly miffed animals of the avian variety, each species with different in-flight characteristics, from a catapult to destroy a band of no good pigs hell-bent on noshing down on the bird’s eggs.
The larger, vibrant screen of the iPad gives the title an added, joyous edge whilst making precise shots simpler and more devastating. Letting the app down slightly, however, is the lack of advancement from its iPhone predecessor, missing out on the opportunity to add multiple new levels that would no doubt entice users and Angry Birds fans into multiple-platform adoption.
All-in-all what you get is what you expect from Angry Birds on any portable platform, a fun gaming experience that you can return to time after time. This apps longevity is a marvel and one that is no doubt envied and admired throughout the app industry.

The iOS equivalent of a plain cheese sandwich: does the job, but it won't linger in the memory afterwards.

The interface feels a bit out of place on iOS, but it’s a fun app, and produces interesting results.
Puzzlejuice
Absurdly challenging, sometimes brutal, but frequently brilliant (especially on the iPad); just be aware of what you’re letting yourself in for. (Sob.)
