IMDb Movies and TV
The internet's favourite database hits the iPad early

The world’s most famous movie reference site makes an extremely swift debut on the iPad with an entirely new layout, designed specifically for the device.
It’s apps like this that encourage the thoughts that the iPad could redefine the way we interact with the web. It has a logical layered interface, similar to the new tabbed settings interface which debuted on the device.
From there, it’s ridiculously simple and speedy to whizz through the films, casts, characters, posters photos and, in most cases, the original trailers from the movies.
Photos render extremely quickly and videos load fast. Thankfully the videos don’t use Flash. There are tabs for critic and user reviews, as well as copy-and-paste-able trivia and quotes from the movie of choice.
Talent profiles boast pop-up filmographies, which are then explorable within the main tab. It really is a one-stop shop that seems to lack very little from the web experience. There’s even the information on upcoming movie schedules, box office figures and award winners.
The interface is wonderfully slick, and will settle movie arguments in record time. We can’t imagine a way we’d prefer this website to be re-imagined for the iPad and the format should set the standard for a host of similar portals.
