SCOTTY mobil Review
by on June 5, 2010
Route planning used to be impossible, but now thanks to the mobile phone it’s easier than ever and fewer people are getting lost.
Scotty Mobil is essentially an A to B application, offering you the information you need to traverse your local area, country or even Europe.
Offering train, bus, Underground and even boat times, the theory here is that you’re able to throw in some place names, a time you want to go and then ask the server to do the rest.
However this is nothing more than a fantasy, as beyond train times Scotty Mobil is unable to perform even the simplest routes in the UK.
In fairness, it’s meant for the German markets clearly – the fact it starts up in German is a clue there, and means it shouldn’t be marketed around the globe.
It’s good at finding your new train times in the UK – simply pop in two places, a time to leave and you’re away.
But ask it to find an underground station or bus stop, and it’s got no idea, preferring to send you to Belgium instead.
Also, there’s an option to delete the pre-set towns to choose from, as they’re all places you’re never likely to visit.
However, these will just pop back up the next time you start up the app (and that takes a while).
An OK application if you want train times – but there are better out there.
