Kik Messenger Review
by on November 5, 2010
OK, we know what you’re thinking – how is this much different from a BBM application?
Well, in truth, it’s not really, save for the fact it can work across multiple platforms and do so with aplomb.
The cross-functionality is the main USP of this application, as it needs specific usernames logged onto the Kik network to function.
A quick sweep of our friends showed that only one person had ever used it, and that was a long time ago – clearly this isn’t a popular platform.
But if you’ve got a close group of friends on the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices, then this is one of the best ways to keep in touch IM-wise.
We tried this on all three platforms, and it worked simply and effectively (and very quickly) on all three.
You can’t do anything cool like share files, or music, or anything other than words, but it’s a simpler method of doing things than texting.
Kik promises to keep this app constantly updated with things like music sharing, so we hope other elements (like group chat) come in soon, as this is a decent attempt already.
