Tell others about delicious food without boring them
by on July 16, 2012
Foodspotting is, quite simply, a social network for foodies. Forget status updates, interesting news or cat pictures – this is pictures of delicious food and drink, and that’s it. It immediately presents itself as a useful resource, though, offering pictures of dishes that people have taken in restaurants near you. Rather than just a self-indulgent food-porn extravaganza, it can really help to make up your mind where’s worth going if you’re in a new town (or are just feeling indecisive in your own town).
You can have the images arranged by those establishments nearest you, or you can look at the most recent from your town. The photos are nice and large, and you get the restaurant’s address (but not simple map or directions options, which is a big let-down).
Of course, an app like this needs people to share on it for it to be useful, and you’ll have to work to make the most of it yourself, recommending (or not) any dishes that you actually try, and being sure to add desirable dishes to your wish list.
The aesthetics of the app are lively, with a simple, slightly rustic feel, and it works quickly, so it gets a definitely recommendation from us for food lovers.
