Ever wanted your BlackBerry to look more like an iPhone?
by on June 5, 2010
The BlackBerry phone range might be the best at many things when it comes to messaging, but oddly SMS is not its strong point.
Where other phones (like those running Android or the iPhone OS) are working out that properly threaded conversations are the way forward, BlackBerrys don’t quite manage the same feat.
However, that’s where crunchSMS comes in – simply download it, activate the app and you’re away, and given that it’s free it’s a pretty good deal.
The instructions are presented in a threaded, speech bubble way that’s nice to read, although we’re not fans of the way you’re supposed to set up crunchSMS.
You need to block all incoming SMS messages using the firewall settings, and then head into profiles to activate crunchSMS as an option.
We saw no such option, but thankfully it worked anyway, making it much easier to read and see conversations.
If you need this functionality in your phone, it’s a great way to do it, although you won’t be able to use the default SMS options used in the BB menu any more.
