Talk To Me
Text-to-speech app that allows you to type in phrases and voice-translate them into a number of different languages.

Sometimes language can be a bit of a barrier. You see a lovely lady, she speaks only Italian and you only eat Italian. What do you do? Well, you could learn a language and impress her in a few months, or you could offer her instant aural gratification by downloading the Talk To Me app.
Add this to you your Android phone, speak a few choice words into the phone and it will translate and speak them back to you in real time.
Unfortunately for those with plain old Android 1.5 (that’ll be you with your Android G1 or Magic) the app is currently only available for Éclair – the 1.6 version of Android.
Once installed, though, Talk To Me is a joy to use. There are a few qualms – it comes with its own virtual keyboard that doesn’t support predictive text and there’s only room to tap in about two sentences – but translations seem to be accurate enough.
And just in case it’s an important overseas client rather than an Italian beauty you need to charm, you’ll be pleased to hear there are a number of languages to choose to translate to – including Italian, French and Chinese.
