An app which seeks out the coolest hotel haunts so that you can mingle with the trendies
by on May 31, 2010
There’s nothing worse than booking a hotel, going away for a weekend and finding that where you’re staying is not exactly to your tastes.
How were you to know that the room had mauve walls, a 20-year-old TV and complimentary mothballs?
StayHIP wants to stop this from ever happening again by listing the coolest, craziest and most contemporary hotels around the country.
To match the hotels to your mood, StayHIP’s searching is done by keyword. Adjectives litter the main screen.
Just highlight the ones that take your fancy (we chose ‘eclectic’, ‘edgy’ and ‘energetic’), type in the location you are looking at and the date you want to check-in and you are off.
Each hotel is given a lengthy description, complete with images, and are pretty well suited to what you asked for.
Once you have chosen the roof over your head. You can even go as far as booking a room straight from the app.
While the descriptions smack of pretention and the app has a horrible air of exclusivity about it, StayHIP is useful for those who strive to be different.
While we were impressed with the intuitiveness of the app – we will still be looking for the cheapest deals online.
