There’s a reason why the Augmented Views 2.0 app takes a few minutes to load the first time you use it – there’s so much information stuffed into the app for a driver, it’s mind-boggling.
Pushing augmented reality to its max on mobile, Augmented Views 2.0 gives drivers real-time traffic reports, a display of traffic cams and even Twitter alerts if you need them.
When it comes to the user interface, you can almost pretend that your car is a submarine when you use it. Well, almost. The Radar vision of the app means that you will see when problems are about to occur on your route.
If you are in the car with someone else or you have a car holder for your phone, you can use the app to detect where traffic cameras are around. It’ll alert you with beeps when you’re about to pass a trap.
Although it’s still in beta, the application has some interesting features that need work but point to what could lie ahead for the app.
For instance, as the app was created in Canada, if you were in Toronto, you could see which houses were for sale in the area.
As it stands, though, it’s more of a gimmick than something that’s really needed.
