Simple but excellent configuration app for your Nocs headphones
Nocs Review
by on August 10, 2012
This little beauty of an Android app allows you to configure your Nocs headphone buttons to suit your preferences. It also however works with other headphone makes – assuming they have one or three buttons.
We tested the app with the excellent Nocs 200 Series inear headphones, as well as the ubiquitous on-ear Plattan Urbanears, which sport three and one buttons respectively. The app worked flawlessly, and the ability to move common functions to easier button combos is a surprisingly compelling thing. However, a pair of Philips Uptown cans were less impressive, with more complex commands (treble press to skip back) failing everytime. It’s impossible to say if that’s the app or the headphone remote though, and two out of three isn’t bad.
Once downloaded, simply enable the app, choose your button configuration, then the actions you’d like to trigger. You have combos of up to three single clicks, as well as press and hold and click then hold. Similar tools are available for those that have rooted their droids, but this is a brilliant app for the less adventurous.
There are slight irritations, due to the fact that the app isn’t designed to easily switch between different installed players, or different headphone button configurations. You can manually change the settings each time, of course, but that’s a bit of a hassle if you have several sets of headphones or different playlists in various apps.
That said, it’s free, and it works pretty well – credit due to Nocs for creating a simple, multi-use app that’s on our keeper list – go download now.
