Turns off the apps which are drinking up too much of your phone’s battery juice

In an ideal world every app for the Android platform would be a sexy piece of genius which you want to show off to everyone in the pub. Anyone who has been out in Croydon on a Saturday night, though, knows we don’t live in an ideal world.
This means that the Android Market is littered with functional (ie not sexy) apps that make your phone better but don’t exactly set the heart racing – Advanced Task Killer is one of those apps.
Yes, it’s got ‘killer’ in the title but Advanced Task Killer isn’t about murder in the first degree, more about making your phone’s battery last that little bit longer.
Turn the app on and it will give you a list of the applications on your phone which are contributing to battery drain. Simply switch these off and your phone should last that little bit longer.
Now switching them off does mean that they may take that little bit longer to load but using Advanced Task Killer does make a big difference to the battery life of your phone.
There’s also other functionality within the app which impresses, including the ability to change what a ‘long press’ does on you phone. While it’s set to ‘pop-up menu’ as default, you could have the action bring up details about an app.
You can also alter how well you kill an app, ranging from ‘disable’ to ‘crazy’ – okay.
Functional it may be, but Advanced Task Killer is also essential.
