Facebook IM gets its own app
Facebook Messenger Review
by on October 25, 2011
Facebook Messenger is a spin-off app from the full-fat Facebook Android app, which offers a standalone portal to make use of the social network’s functionality. While some would prefer to have all of Facebook’s functionality in one place, it does make sense to take this feature out and give it its own app.
Load it up and the application is self-explanatory. For a start it allows you to see who is online and available to chat instantly and also those who are mobile. Signing in is simple, as if you already have the Facebook app, it will take yple.
Click it on and it shows you those who are on the go (and where they are) and also those who are available to speak to.
In short the app is like BBM – offering you realtime chat without it costing you on texts. And it works well in an online environment that most of us know very well already.
