Weather Bug Review

by on March 13, 2010

Nobody can properly predict the weather. Michael Fish proved this with his lack of hurricane-spotting skills. But download the Weather Bug and you will know more about the weather than, well, anyone who hasn’t got this app.

Using your phone’s in-built GPS, the app tells you what the temperature is, where the winds blowing (and how strong) and even what the humidity is like.

It’s not the sexiest looking app we’ve seen – those who like the Sense UI weather option will baulk at how ugly it is – but it is packed with weather description.

Alongside a detailed day view, there is also a two-week guide to what the weather will be like and you can choose a location anywhere on Google maps and see what the weather is like there.

There’s a reason why the Weather Bug app is one of the best and most accurate on the Android Store – its information is taken from 8,000 weather stations and over 1,000 weather cameras. Its makers call it the ‘largest and technologically advanced’ weather network in the world. And who are we to argue?

Absurdly challenging, sometimes brutal, but frequently brilliant (especially on the iPad); just be aware of what you’re letting yourself in for. (Sob.)
