Sim City Deluxe Review
by on February 2, 2012
Many of the social games which populate/pollute Facebook all have one game to thank for their popularity and that is Sim City.
The game when first released was a revelation when it was first released, offering up a novel way in for newbies wanting to try their hand at a strategy game.
23 years is a long time, however, in the world of videogames so how does Sim City fare to newer app gaming fare? Well, the answer is pretty good.
The game has been given a nice lick of paint so it doesn’t look as old as its 20-odd years should make it. And for those who are familiar with Sim City it is great to play. Where it does fall down is for those who have no idea how to play Sin City. It seems that you are expected to know rather a lot about how the game works before creating your city and this could prove more than a little frustrating for those who are experiencing Sim City for the first time.
As for the controls, there is a lot to be desired for good old mouse controls – using a touchscreen is nowhere near as accurate as an analogue click.
There are foibles but Sim City will still take your life away once you start playing it. The addiction levels are still very much there, even if you get frustrated with some parts of the game.

The iOS equivalent of a plain cheese sandwich: does the job, but it won't linger in the memory afterwards.

The interface feels a bit out of place on iOS, but it’s a fun app, and produces interesting results.
Puzzlejuice
Absurdly challenging, sometimes brutal, but frequently brilliant (especially on the iPad); just be aware of what you’re letting yourself in for. (Sob.)
