Indie game that sees you attacking planets for the fun of it
GalaxIR Star Review
by on June 5, 2010
When the plot of a game is as simple as ‘the goal is to conquer the enemy planets’, there’s no way that it can really fail.
Has it got spaceships? Yup. And can you take over planets? Yup. Then, we are in.
Although the look of GalaxIR is fairly simple, the gameplay papers over any cracks about appearance.
Play in first player and the game isn’t quite as frantic as it should be. Against a computer opponent, you have to overtake more planets than the opposition, by directing your spaceships to the area. The more planets you overtake, the more you own the universe.
Take multiplayer for a spin and things get a little more frenetic. Having more than one person lets you actually player real people – fighting over planet domination is riveting stuff.
Although there is a free version of the app available, pay the small price for the full game and you get infinite multiplayer modes and a whole host of other features.
As this is an independent game, expect more features to be added in due course and maybe the graphics will be improved in future versions. For gameplay, it’s top notch though.
