‘My phone’s got 8GB of storage, 720p HD video recording and I can edit all my Microsoft Office documents on the go. I just wish it had an app to give me a bio of Edward VI whenever I needed it’.
No, we haven’t overheard that in Carphone Warehouse either. Still, The British Monarchy is waiting to be downloaded for free on the Android market. It displays a list of all the British monarchs, from 757 AD to today’s House of Windsor. Selecting each takes you to a two or three paragraph bio on every Royal, even the ones that sound like they just might be made up (ahem, King Ethelbert).
You would be hard pressed to need more information about each UK monarch than the overviews included here. And for extra reading, there is an appendix of more Acts, speeches and Orders. Fascinating? Possibly. The presentation, though, is dull. No images are included in the layout, except for a couple of flags on the menu. However, we are given an option of viewing our plain text on a black or white background (you spoil us, your majesty!). Ultimately, The British Monarchy is just too dense for its own good.
