When it comes to appearance and ease of use, there is no doubting that the Marvel Comics app is up there with the best. Perfect for those who like to digest their comics digitally rather than waste on paper, the app offers a comprehensive list of the best comics available from the Marvel Store and presents them in a fantastic way on a smartphone or tablet that they almost come to life.

Those may be thinking that they can do this with the Comixology app and they can but this standalone app is better for those who already use the Marvel app on other devices. This is because the app syncs all your purchases from elsewhere together – all you need to do is download them and you will be please to read that this is cross platform too.

As for viewing the comics, well it’s a great experience. Flicking from one panel to another is given a vibrant animation and you can also punch to zoom to get closer to the artwork.

For die hard fans there is something of a delay for brand-new comics to reach the store but there is a great selection of old-school titles to choose from. And unlike the DC comic app, there’s a number of full free comic books to browse when you don’t want to spend any money. When you do splash the cash it does get annoying that there doesn’t seem to be any regulation with the pricing, with some comics being very expensive and others costing under a pound.

Regardless of these niggles this is still the best comic book app around.
