Brings the BBC iPlayer to your Android phone. It’s unofficial but it's all in the best possible taste

The BeebPlayer is not endorsed by the BBC but it looks just like the iPlayer, with the same font and design. It doesn’t quite have the functionality and quality you have with the iPlayer. But it is a great little workaround until the BBC makes something official.
Those who have an Android on a Vodafone or 3 tariffs will get the best use out of this app, as these are the networks the BeebPlayer recommends for streaming over 3G. The other networks do allow it, but quality may differ. This is because it does eat up data, something you have to be careful with. Luckily the app also works with WiFi as well.
Streaming of shows was very quick when we tried it. You do lose a bit of quality over 3G but this does mean that it doesn’t judder that much – something that is one of the most annoying things about watching web video.
The quality of the footage is on a par of YouTube’s so don’t go expecting crystal clarity. And you can only watch the programmes in landscape mode.
This is one of the best video apps we have come across on the Android Market.
